How does an affluent white girl become a multi-cultural feminist?

When Liv, 21 and about to graduate into a career of nonprofit work, returns from India and discovers she’s pregnant, she needs to make choices that will define her life. What should she tell her live-in boyfriend Devin who is not the father? Does she want to have an abortion as her best friend Elyse urges? If not, will she give up the baby as her mother Katherine did? Set in Seattle, with flashbacks to her time in Mumbai and affair with Rama, watch Liv’s new-found feminism shape her decisions. And hear a legacy from the women in her family that gives her the courage to stand for her own values.

This coming-of-age story begins the Nonprofit Girl Trilogy that evolves into a family saga spanning 15 years and populated by strong women of all ages.

“…I really loved it!…compelling characters, a well-developed, well-written story…once I started I had trouble putting it down…I both liked Liv and wanted to smack her on occasion.” — Elisa Ortiz, Managing Director, Campaign Accelerator, RepresentUs

“I felt for Liv and her dilemma at once and found myself rooting for her to make the choices that were right for her. This coming-of-age novel will interest anyone who has had to make hard life choices at a tender age as well as those of us who have been on all sides of the parent's journey. I also found myself learning a bit about international non-profit work, which was a bonus! Well worth the read, all of it! — Dee Endelman, Braver Angels Facilitator

“...presents universal themes...I personally can relate to Liv's perennial struggle against injustice that pervades this world, and to find her place in spite of her own human frailties...this story will resonate with readers regardless of age, background, or origin.” — Lisa Lungren, Anti-trafficking Outreach and Education Coordinator for faith-based nonprofit
